Neole Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Neole is a local-first expense tracker provided by Estuaire Studio. This policy explains how Neole handles information when you use its iPhone app.

What Neole handles

Neole may handle the transaction details you choose to capture or enter, including merchant names, amounts, dates, categories, notes, hashtags, budgets, recurring rules, Pockets, and app preferences. It may also handle editable drafts created from typed text, voice capture, one selected receipt or screenshot, CSV files you select, or text explicitly passed through a Shortcut you create.

Your records and settings remain in Neole’s local database unless you explicitly share a Pocket through Apple’s private iCloud sharing flow. Neole does not require an Estuaire Studio account.

Voice, images, and Shortcuts

Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions are requested only when you start voice capture. Where available, Neole uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition and turns the result into an editable draft. Voice transcripts are not sent to Estuaire Studio or a third-party AI provider.

When you select a receipt or screenshot through Apple’s system picker, Neole can read text on device to create a review draft. The app receives access only to the item you select and does not upload or retain the image.

Neole offers Shortcuts actions for transaction capture. A Shortcut you create can pass selected, copied, or otherwise explicitly supplied message, email, notification, or bank-alert text to Neole. Neole does not read, browse, or monitor your inbox, Messages history, notifications, or Apple Wallet history. Parsed results remain editable review drafts and are never silently saved as transactions.

Optional features

Optional private Pocket sharing uses Apple CloudKit only for people you choose through Apple’s sharing sheet. Optional merchant suggestions request a recent location only after you enable the feature; Neole does not store raw coordinates or build a location trail. Optional app lock receives only iOS’s authentication result and never receives or stores biometric templates.

On supported devices, Neole may use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework to help interpret an ambiguous capture. The result remains editable and is never automatically saved. If that capability is unavailable, Neole uses its local parser instead.

Purchases, tracking, retention, and deletion

Subscriptions and restoration are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Neole contains no advertising SDKs, third-party analytics, third-party crash reporting, advertising identifier, bank-account connection, or Estuaire Studio account system. Neole does not track you across apps or websites and does not sell personal information.

Local records, drafts, rules, and preferences remain until you delete them in Neole or remove the app. You can delete individual transactions or use Neole’s confirmed Delete All Local Data control. Exports are created only when you request them, and selected CSV imports are reviewed locally before saving.
