ARIA Scan · Complete product guide

Keep the purchase.
Lose the paper trail.

ARIA Scan turns a receipt into a record you can correct, search, and use later. This guide documents the user-visible workflows verified in the current local build, not a promise about features or plans that have not shipped.

01

Capture

Choose the right source.

The camera is the fastest route, but it is not the only one. ARIA Scan accepts an existing image or document and always leaves a manual path.

Live camera

Open Scan, choose the shutter, frame the full receipt, and capture. Camera permission is requested only when you explicitly start camera capture.

Document camera

Use the document-scanning route for guided page detection and a multi-page paper receipt.

Photos or Files

Import an existing receipt image from Photos or choose a file, including a multi-page PDF.

Manual entry

Create the purchase directly when there is no useful receipt image or the record is easier to enter yourself.

Review

Correct before saving.

ARIA Scan review screen with optional category and warranty guidance
Suggestions stay optional until you apply them.

Recognition prepares a draft. You remain responsible for the saved record, and the app keeps uncertainty visible rather than silently deciding.

  1. Read the extracted fields.Check merchant, purchase date, currency, subtotal, tax, total, line items, category, and notes.
  2. Resolve low confidence.Fields with weaker recognition are highlighted so you can compare them with the receipt.
  3. Check arithmetic.Review total mismatches or implausible values before saving; correct the field rather than accepting a guess.
  4. Review duplicate evidence. If merchant, date, and total match an existing purchase, ARIA Scan warns about a possible duplicate.
  5. Apply only what helps.Category and protection hints are optional. Nothing changes until you explicitly choose it.
  6. Save deliberately.Use Save receipt only after the purchase draft represents the source well enough for your needs.

03

Library

Keep a purchase dossier.

A saved receipt becomes a purchase record: the searchable details, source evidence, and reminder state stay together.

  1. Scan the timeline.Use recent purchases, totals, and reminder indicators to locate the record you want.
  2. Open purchase detail.Review merchant, date, total, items, category, notes, protection, and stored receipt evidence.
  3. Inspect the source.Open a multi-page receipt, swipe between pages, pinch or double-tap to zoom, and share a page when needed.
  4. Edit without losing evidence.Correct purchase details while preserving the record identity, original receipt files, recognition provenance, reminders, and creation metadata.

The library makes saved purchase records easy to return to, while each record can still identify when no receipt image was stored.

05

Protect

Make a date actionable.

Return and warranty reminders help you act on dates you have confirmed. ARIA Scan does not invent a retailer policy or manufacture an expiry date when the evidence is missing.

1

Open protection

From review or purchase detail, choose return or warranty protection for the saved purchase.

2

Confirm the deadline

Enter or verify the date and supporting context. Treat any evidence-aware hint as a prompt to check, not as a policy guarantee.

3

Allow notifications

If you want alerts, follow the permission explainer. Notification permission is separate from saving the purchase.

4

Review reminder status

Use the library, search filters, or reminder surfaces to see what is approaching and open the source purchase.

06

Grounded intelligence

Answers that cite your records.

Purchase intelligence is a Pro-gated capability in the current local build. It is constrained to saved purchase records and keeps the matching source visible.

  1. Ask a purchase question.Use a practical query such as finding active return deadlines or a past item.
  2. Read the grounded answer. The response is assembled from matching saved records rather than an open-ended claim about a purchase it cannot see.
  3. Open the citations. Each match links back to its purchase so you can check the date, amount, and supporting evidence.
  4. Handle no match plainly. When the library does not support an answer, the app returns a no-match state instead of inventing one.

07

System

Siri, widgets, and sync.

These integrations are implemented in the current local build but are not established as publicly distributed capabilities. Widgets and Cloud sync are Pro-gated in that build.

App Shortcuts

Supported intents cover starting a scan, private purchase search, showing warranty reminders, and setting up a return reminder. They are designed for Siri, Spotlight, and Shortcuts.

Widgets

Small and medium widgets surface reminder status or recent-purchase counts. Their snapshots are designed to omit merchant, item, total, notes, recognition text, and receipt images.

Cloud sync

Local-first CloudKit sync queues offline changes, provides conflict review, and falls back safely to local data. Required production capabilities and distribution profiles are still external launch work.

08

Control

Export, delete, and diagnose.

Settings keeps the consequential data actions explicit. Use them deliberately and preserve an export first when you may need the records later.

JSON export

Create a portable data export from Settings. Export remains available regardless of the current plan state.

Local deletion

Use the deliberate delete flow to remove local app data. Deleted sample content is not silently re-seeded on the next launch.

Safe diagnostics

The in-app diagnostic path is designed not to include receipt contents, merchant names, amounts, notes, or images.

For the complete data description, read the ARIA Scan Privacy Policy.

Help and handoff

Something did not scan?

Tell us which capture route you used, the screen where it stopped, and what you expected. Do not email receipt images or purchase details unless support specifically asks for a safe way to share them.
